The Master of Education in Educational Leadership with Teacher Leader Endorsement program approaches leadership through the lens of social justice advocacy while addressing issues with integrity and in a caring and ethical manner. Upon graduation, students will be well-versed in the improvement of student instruction and learning, professional development, coaching, mentoring, and being a team leader or a division chair.

The Educational Leadership program meets the standards for building level leadership set by the Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC) and Interstate School Leader Licensure Consortium (ISLLC). This graduate program is fully approved by the State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board and the Illinois State Board of Education.

Admission Requirements

  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with Teaching endorsement
  • Three years successful teaching experience
  • Fulfillment of House Bill 150 (Survey of Exceptional Children and Adolescents or Exceptional Learners in Inclusive Communities)
  • A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale) for the final 60 credit hours completed
  • Official college transcripts from all institutions previously attended
  • Submission of graduate application form
  • Two completed College of Education and Social Sciences recommendation forms
  • Meet with the appropriate Department Chair or Program Director for a personal interview to discuss educational goals
