Dr. Cremin to Present on 'Eisenhower Era' in Lake Forest on September 12

燚r. Dennis H. Cremin, chair and professor of the History Department at 蜜芽视频, will be a featured speaker at the History Center of Lake Forest & Lake Bluff. He will join History Center Executive Director Carol Summerfield in a discussion about the "Modern in the Midcentury" exhibit at 7 p.m. on September 12. The exhibit, open through the first week of November, examines the cultural impact of 1950s America.
The event will explore the Eisenhower era (1953-1961), a time of rapid cultural change in the United States. Dr. Cremin and Ms. Summerfield will discuss how magazines, radio shows, television, and LP records, once considered disposable, have become significant markers of "modern American life." They will highlight rock and roll's rise, consumer culture's influence, and the era's lasting impact.
Dr. Cremin, author of the award-winning Grant Park: The Evolution of Chicago抯 Front Yard, is an expert in U.S. popular culture and has curated several exhibitions.�
